FAQs

What are the dimensions of the boxes?

HB70.5 70.5" 22" 11" 91
HB66 66" 22" 11" 88
Does it leak? No it doesn't leak. The seams are continuously welded. The gasket in the lid seals tight against the flange. The adjustment holes will let water in if the box submerged. In normal use on the road, it doesn't leak.
Will the aluminum stay shinny or will it fade? The aluminum will oxidize. To prevent that or to restore the shine, use a good aluminum polish available at any automotive parts retailer. A helpful hint is to use a piece of old shag carpet to buff the box.
Does it drag when I go in and out of a parking lot? The box has been designed not to drag on the grade of highway entrances on any Interstate Highway. Not all States build roads to the sate's standards.
How does it do in deep snow? The box is not lower than your trailer hitch. When the vehicle is moving froward it will not cause more drag in the snow. When the vehicle is moving in reverse, it will "push" as much snow as the front bumper.
What about my license plate? On some vehicles, the box may obscure your license plate. That is common with many hitch mounted cargo boxes and cargo trays.
How much weight can I put in it and on it? The "tongue weight rating of the hitch" that you have on the vehicle is the load limit. The Hitch Box weighs about 90lbs. Remember to include the weight of the box in you load calculation. It is important not to excede the weight limit of the hitch. It is critical to KEEP THE LOAD CENTERED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BOX.
What if I lose the key?

Take note of the numbers on the face of the lock. Contact the factory at 1-866-790-1815. With that number, he will be able to repalce the key in a few days.

What if I break the lock / handle? The box is fully warranted for three years. If the box is damaged contact the factory at 1-866-790-1815.
If the box is damaged how do I get it repaired? The box is fully warranted for three years. If the box is damaged contact the factory at 1-866-790-1815.
What do I need to install it? The vehicle has to have a 2" square receiver and trailer hitch. The only tools would be a wrench to tighten the bolts. All of the hardware is provided in the kit.
